A year old MacBook Pro's battery 81% charged and only has 3.5 hours left?

Hello.

Is it me or is 3.5 hours pretty low for a year old 13.3" MacBook Pro
(mid-2012; (9,2/MD102ll/A))'s battery that has about 81% charged? This
has Mac OS X 10.8.5 with all updates.

It depends what you're doing at the time you read the meter. If idle,
sitting there with the screen backlight off the battery will last
longer. Start doing some work with it, browse, download, load a
spreadsheet, etc. and the meter will go down.

Ah, I will have to check again later. I just booted and logged up. Maybe
it was still doing heavy tasks?

I checked this morning while surfing in Firefox v24, and downloading and
installing this week's Apple's updates for 10.8.5. It had about 53% and
over three/3 hours of battery juice left. Someone told me to check the
power information in Mac OS X:

My refurb'ed MacBookPro lasts 4 hours on a charge and it's less than a
year old. That's apparently really good compared to what PC users deal
with. What were you expecting?

I used to remember it being up to 6-7 hours when it was brand new!

Turn off flash and javascript in your browser. See if that makes a big
difference.

I just booted and logged in for those times. Maybe it was still doing
something heavy in the background.
